James Yang’s well-rounded professional background allows him to offer a unique and valuable experience to his clients.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, a school recognized for its engineering program. Prior to entering the legal field, James Yang worked extensively in different areas of mechanical engineering. For several years, James managed a folding carton business where he acquired hands-on experience with automated machinery, printing equipment, die-cutting machines, and all aspects of paper box manufacturing. James also worked as a mechanical engineer for Avibank Manufacturing, a supplier of custom fasteners for the aerospace industry where he designed products for companies such as Boeing. Shortly before entering law school, James worked as a project manager at ACL Technologies responsible for the installation of multi-million dollar pneumatic test facilities for the Taiwan Air Force.
James obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. While attending law school, he was employed as a law clerk with a prominent Orange County patent law firm. This job allowed him to utilize his legal studies in a real-world environment and practice under the guidance of seasoned attorneys.

Also, James accepted a position with this Orange County law firm as a patent attorney. In 2008, he was offered a principal position in the firm which he gladly accepted. In 2018, James Yang became a partner of Klein O’Neil & Singh LLP.
Working with a variety of clients, James has extensive experience in all areas of intellectual property law, patent strategy, and patent prosecution. His technology focus includes all types of simple to complex mechanical inventions. James’ background in mechanical engineering greatly enhances his technical understanding of the intricacies of mechanical inventions. From his office in Irvine, California, he serves clients throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County, California.
